Getting a jump on the spring cleaning... or... maybe catching up from spring clean 2 years ago. :-)

Unpacking continues. Which is good. We've gotten down to that last little bit of "where the fuck did that thing GO!??! I had it before we moved here!!" We still have a lot of art to put up on the walls too.

And as much as it pains me, it's about time to take down the tree too. I've been really really REALLY happy to have it up and keep it up. :-)

We recently obtained a new sectional to replace our old broken-down couches. It is MARVELOUS! I'm sad I haven't stopped running around long enough to spend lots of time on it, but I'm happy to have it, and it seems like it will last us a long time. :-)

As a function of getting new sitting spaces, we've been cleaning up the area and doing more unpacking and organizing, and the den space is shaping up some. Lots more to go, but we're chipping away at it and making good progress.

I'm also working on my closet space and my bedroom space to maximize the idea of open space. My bedroom is mostly just my bed, and part of me really wants to downsize... but... I love my King... a lot. So that means that I need to figure out how to make it feel like more space. Not sure yet how.

We're also due for the winter maintenance including some yard stuff. Might see about taking advantage of the lack of rain this week to chip away at some of it. Including cutting back the roses... and maybe digging out the beds. Anybody have experience with mulch/cedar? Our front rose bed is full of grass and other miscellaneous crap. I'm thinking of yanking it all and putting down some sort of bedding to keep it cleaner and neater. Our poor Rodie in the front became a tree... the trunk is about 6 inches wide, and it climbs at least 3-4 feet before it really does anything. If it were my place, I might yank it and replace it. We've got stuff to do on the back deck as well including cleaning up, organizing, and some unpacking as well. Plenty to keep us busy before spring. :-)

How is the rest of winter shaping up for you?

So as I had mentioned around the beginning of the year, this year, at least for me, seems about the big spring clean. Not just in spring, but definitely the tying up of ends, and re-evaluations of plans and getting realistic about needs/wants and trimming out the stuff that I either really don't want to do or really am not going to make time to do. It has also been about taking the time to finish projects and life changes and push that final hour to get the result I've wanted for things I just haven't finished up.

One area that this had included was my oral health. Having abandoned it for a segment of my life, I had a lot of catching up to do when I started back again over two years ago. It has been a struggle, since habits that should have been there were not, and it also involved specific and ongoing decisions about my diet (I tend to avoid sugar, less for my waistline and more for my teeth). But it is pleasing to see that things have progressed significantly since then. Things are stable and otherwise healthy.

Today was the first time in over two years where my cleaning was only a cleaning and my time spent with the actual dentist was minutes versus much longer. And since my insurance covers cleanings, today was the first time in a long time where I walked out without having to pay anything!

BTW, if you're on the east side, Dr. Peter Hyusing with Issaquah Dental Arts is wonderful, and I'm also partial to his hygienist named Trevi. She rocks!
