Not in the trippy sense..

More in the Low-Self-Discharge sense.

I've been a fan and advocate of rechargeable batteries for a long time, and most of my electronics utilize them. Varying brands of Nickel Metal Hydride rechargeable. My biggest problem with them has been the fact that for low use devices, if the batteries sit unused too long, they slowly drain themselves of power, and when you need them, it just won't be there. For uses where you ride them hard and often, like photography, they are great. The camera is never likely to sit idle enough for loss to matter. But in things like flashlights and other low use items, this is a big deal. I've tried using them in my cordless mice, and they never seem to last very long.

So I recently invested in some Sanyo Eneloops. They are a little bit more expensive (not a whole lot when you realize that many NiMh batteries are still as much as $10/4), but they are designed to hold their charge. Most LSD batteries are rated to hold 75% charge for as long as 2 years. Not that I can foresee my batteries sitting for that long, but it is good to know that for things where battery longevity over time is important, I won't be losing charge to thin air.

I'll report back with results when I get them up and running.
