When last we met our fearless superhero, he was in the midst of a bit of change. And yet again, more a-change a-coming. Doing some necessary but somewhat sad household rearranging. Nothing untoward or problematic, thankfully. But it does mean the house is getting a shake-up and that includes years of literal dust from corners that haven't been visited in a while. Which is working out to be good in that regard. It also means we're finding things that have been "put away in a safe place" that were so safe we forgot where they were. :-D
I started up the tomatoes this year in about mid February on the inside racks. They are doing pretty well so far. Many of them have made it out into their seasonal homes and we've got more that are getting to about that spot. Going to have a lot of plants out this year and I'm hoping it means the harvest is good. We also are working on some flowers as well. We have zinnias that are starting strong, and sunflowers as well. Unfortunately the flower beds got overrun with grass and things over the last year when I had a hard time getting out there to tend it, so once I get the tomatoes settled, I think I'll be chipping away at it. Grass and buttercups are such a pain in the butt. I also got lucky this year with some bulbs that I didn't have the energy to get in last fall that mostly survived over the winter inside in their package. I have gotten them out in pots and while I don't expect them to bloom anytime soon, my greatest hope is that they'll just get settled in and ready for next year.
Work is work. Lots to say, but not really in a public forum. Happy to discuss offline though.
Something that has been a simple joy lately is the fact that we got a Ninja Creami. If you are unfamiliar, it is a machine to make ice cream and frozen treats. It mostly spins and churns up frozen ingredients vs the usual ice cream method. You put your ingredients in a small tub, freeze it solid, and then spin it in the machine which shaves and churns up the frozen ingredients into a lovely treat. And best of all, you can put whatever you want into it. We've been having a lot of fun trying new things, and then coming up with ideas to improve or in some cases completely mutate a flavor set into something new. There is a thriving community out there of people trying things, and lots and lots of recipes to start with. And most of them are as little as 3 ingredients. Like... fruit, milk, and a sweetener. Super easy. And it's about a pint of finished stuff, so it's fast and easy to enjoy it, and then whip up something new. If you've been holding back, I'd say go for it. Totally worth it.
So things are mostly good. Chugging along and doing what I can to find joy and accomplishment within a world that is on fire. Sometimes literally. Hope you are doing well. :-)
