Been a while since I've posted anything here of consequence. I have been playing more on Google+, but it is mostly short stuff not associated with long prose.

So yeah.. Google+. I'm there. You should be too. Still have an invite button so let me know if you want an account.

It reminds me a lot of the circle concept Diaspora was working on. The segregation is easy, and there is overlapping, which is also nice. I have hopes that the circle concept will grow a little bit. At the moment, it is very flat, and it needs to either have some sort of hierarchical arrangement or some way of interlinking circles to make organization of people easier.

But overall, I'm impressed and using it regularly. I would love if it would offer some sort of integration with other sites, so that I could just update one thing. But I know it's new, so I'll wait to see where it goes.

In other news, things on the home front continue to improve. I've been knocking back little projects here and there as I think of them. I've had a tendency to say, "I'll get to that someday" when it comes to little things that need fixing or doing, and ultimately, they pile up and don't get done. So as I see them, I've just been taking the time to do them.

Part of what gives me the flexibility is that I've purposefully been pushing off almost all other outside activities so that I have the time and space to continue with it. It isn't without its frustrations, but on the other hand, it is very empowering to know that I'm deliberately following a path that affords me time and space to do the things I know I've been needing to do, and seeing the progress of it as I go along.

Our living room almost looks like a living room again, and the "box storage room" is starting to look like an office space again. Even the kitchen is improving, and C and I are working on ways to address daily clutter and cleaning, which as we stay diligent, pays off.

It always seems to go without saying, but the key, it seems, to getting things done is to just make the time to do it, and if it is a project bigger than what can be reasonably accomplished in one go, break it down, and do it bit at a time. But don't get hung up on the breaking-it-down part.

More stuffs to send to GoodWill. It feels good to get the clutter out and focus on minimizing stuffs.

As for what I am managing to do out and about, I have 5:30am tickets to the new Harry Potter at the IMAX at the Science Center for Friday morning. Yes, I'm a dork. I also have a few other excursions lined up in the future with the sweeties.

The other thing that has been taking up my time and thoughts is work. As predicted, it is becoming relentless, and even not being on call, I still get called on very short notice to be available for various things. Aside from the move to Issaquah (we're moving into the old Boeing building up the hill from the Home Depot), the powers that be decided that the next several months are deadlines for this huge pile of projects that "just absolutely have to get done right away or the world will stop if we don't." As it turns out, we've stopped the world a few times so far... :-D I dare say, I'll be breaking out my Klatuu Barada Nikto any day now. But alas, it goes. Lots of new technologies, lots of new projects using them, and lots of stuff on the horizon. Get the feeling that again, aside from the move, the department will look different in a year's time. Should prove interesting.

so yeah. Nothing too monumental, but with all that is looming, I'm working hard to keep it that way. It helps me maintain my sanity, and as much as I miss being active in other things, I know that this is the right thing for now. And I know it isn't permanent.

The oven has been calling to me though. Need to get baking again. And I just picked up some cannoli forms. Yum!
