I hear you on both disconnecting and on needing something that you can control, where what you do has a direct impact.
My renovations are much like your gardening. I do physical work, which uses other parts of the brain than those that are stressed out, and I see progress and get to feel like I can change something.
I love carving soapstone so much because it is a thing with simple choices. There are, at every point, for every particle, just two options: carve or keep. Sometimes bits break off, which is annoying, but there still are only two options. You cannot glue something back on.
It is very soothing.

The world is on fire. People are ignorant. Everything hurts, inside and out.
We need tiny safe spaces in order to be able to keep going.

Thank you for writing to your head MD. For not giving up on trying to change things for the better. Resignation is oh so tempting.

I will be printing out cards with the meme comparing the wearing of a mask only over the mouth to wearing your underpants with bits hanging out. The plan is to hand them to people who show their nose. To speak up without getting into a discussion that will not be distanced or helpful.
One way to not resign myself to the stupidity of people.

Sending all the hugs!
It is good, to read from you.
