48 hour flu. Don't recommend it.
Oct. 3rd, 2017 09:57 amA couple of weekends ago, the plan was to fly into Dallas and enjoy Fencon and spend time reveling and celebrating with the musical track folks at the con, and maybe seeing what else might be happening. It looked to be interesting and different, and I was looking forward to it.
Instead, Thursday night, the night I flew in, I ended up realizing that I wasn't going to leave the hotel room much if at all.
Thankfully the con staff that was wrangling the GOHs took pity on me and picked up a few starter supplies to get me through the worst of it. Amazon Prime Now helped with the rest. :-)
I think other than the specific physical symptoms, the other part I hate about being sick is that it comes with a certain exhaustion and mental fog. I feel pretty helpless to do anything useful and meaningful.
I did catch up a little on some TV. And gamed a little bit.
Sunday, I was finally feeling a little better and emerged from my 4-wall cocoon to gently peruse what was left of the con and visit with some folks.
I got to attend a couple of the many concerts that happened that weekend, and enjoyed seeing my sweetie perform.
We tied up the evening with friends and room service and sweets, and I brought my laptop and gear along so that we could enjoy the premiere of the new Star Trek. There is something to be said for enjoying a premiere with folks who have a vested interest in the franchise. It was really fun to share that.
The last of the evening was spent being a squid among an imposter. :-) There was definitely video. :D
Monday morning, I managed to feel well enough to fly. Flying is always a dicey proposition when you aren't feeling well, but I managed to settle in and work it out.
Still feeling like I'm getting occasional twinges related to the entire upset, but over all I'm much improved and pushing forward. :-)
Yup.. definitely don't recommend it.
