There's no crying in baseball!
Nov. 18th, 2010 09:34 amI've always known that a base part of my brain runs on pop culture references, movie soundtracks and movie quotes. At any given moment, during any given conversation or something I'm watching, a portion will inevitably be taken out of context by my brain and instantly take the pop detour.
Somebody was talking the other day about responsibility.. and my brain decided to go to Al Pacino saying, "Ahhh.. Responsiblity.. I had a lot of 17 year olds in my first platoon.. I took care of them."
There are times when I'm headed to a situation where I know I'm going to fail or something is going to "crash and burn", and I hear Louis Gossett's voice in my head say, "Doug.. I ain't gonna make it."
It happens at the most unusual times. And generally, (up til now)I keep it to myself. But it amuses me.
Along those lines, today's earworm is thus: "I am a member of.. the All American League. We come from cities... near and far... We've got Canadians.. Irishmen and Swedes..."
